Union Health Bone and Joint
Dr. Sucar Marquez studied kinesiology and biomechanics at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota. He obtained his medical degree at the University of medicine and health sciences. He went onto specializing in Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama where he served an additional year is Chief Resident. He completed his subspecialty training for sports medicine at John Hopkins All children’s Hospital where he Participated in concussion research at the Institute of brain protective sciences. He joined Union Sports Medicine this summer of 2025.
Athletic Trainer at ATI Worksite Solutions
Nicole Bonham is a 2001 graduate of Indiana State University, and a 2005 graduate of Indiana University School of Optometry. She established EyeCare Specialists in 2007 after purchasing a practice in Brazil, IN. In 2014 she became the Clinic Director for Optometry Services at Clay City Family Medicine (retired 2024). Most recently she accepted the invitation to provide free ocular health and refractive services to the homeless and underinsured, joining Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency staff.
Director, Employee Health Services at Crown Equipment Corporation
Dr. Louis is a physician who was fellowship trained in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. In the early 2000’s, he was Director and Assistant Professor of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. His next position was as the Air Force Surgeon General’s Consultant in Occupational Medicine in Washington DC. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force as the Deputy Director for Research at the School of Aerospace Medicine, he became the medical director for Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen Ohio, the fifth largest forklift manufacturer in the world. His special interests include toxicology, risk analysis, visual performance, and public safety worker issues.
Union Health Bone and Joint
Dr. McGovern is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon specializing in podiatric medicine and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. She currently practices at Union Health in Terre Haute, Indiana where she is part of a multidisciplinary orthopedics team providing comprehensive care for a wide range of lower extremity conditions. She completed her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by a three-year intensive residency in Podiatric Medicine and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery in Allentown, Pennsylvania. During her training, she gained extensive experience in trauma management, sports-related injuries, and complex surgical foot and ankle reconstructive corrections. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS). With a passion for patient education and collaborative care, Dr. McGovern focuses on helping patients return to mobility and improve their quality of life. Her clinical interests include trauma, sports medicine, limb salvage, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. In her free time, Dr. McGovern enjoys spending time with her husband and family, traveling, hiking, and backpacking. She is also inspired to complete a multi-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in the future.
Dr. Andrew Gudeman is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and shoulder replacement. He cares for athletes of all ages and abilities, from high school and collegiate players to weekend warriors, helping them recover from injury and return to peak performance. Dr. Gudeman brings a strong academic and research background to his clinical work. His research has been published in leading medical journals, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy, and he has authored several textbook chapters in orthopedic sports medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. During his sports medicine fellowship at Duke University, Dr. Gudeman gained experience at the highest levels of athletic care. He served as a team physician for Duke University and North Carolina Central University and contributed as a medical advisor to the NBA Combine. A Center Grove native, Dr. Gudeman’s path to medicine was shaped by his own athletic journey. He won a state football championship in high school and went on to earn a Division I football scholarship to Miami University (Ohio), where he was honored with the MAC Presidential Award recognizing the top student-athlete on each team in the Mid-American Conference. He earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society extending invitations to the top medical students in each class. He also completed his orthopedic surgery residency at IU, where he was named Administrative Chief Resident. Now back in his hometown with his wife and two children, Dr. Gudeman is proud to serve OrthoIndy patients with expert care informed by elite training, personal experience and a deep passion for helping athletes heal and thrive.
Dr. James Fischer is a highly skilled, fellowship -trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of the hand and upper extremity. He takes a comprehensive approach to care that is expertly tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs. Dr. Fischer completed advanced fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at Duke University after earning his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine and completing an orthopedic surgery residency at IU’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Prior to medical school, he earned a master’s degree in biology from Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis (now IU Indianapolis). Dr. Fischer has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and presented research at academic institutions, including IU and Duke. He is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, serving on its government affairs committee, and previously served as a resident board member for the Indiana Orthopedic Society. Outside of medicine, Dr. Fischer enjoys spending time with his wife and son, watching IndyCar racing and IU Hoosiers athletics, biking, fishing and catching a good movie.
