IAOHN is proud to share information about the newly created Safety and Health Historical Society. More information can be found at their website:
www.safetyandhealthhistory.org
The Safety and Health Historical Society (SHHS) is open to participation by individuals and organizations. SHHS is a non-profit, educational and charitable organization. Its mission is to compile and publish information about the events, individuals, organizations, products, methods and contributions of many who advanced safety and health practice to what it is today. The safety and health field has a rich history and much of it has been lost. SHHS depends on participation fees and tax deductible contributions, gifts and grants.
SHHS has a growing list of products. The main one is its journal, The Archives of Safety and Health. We also offer a free product on the SHHS web site, a listing of S&H historical resources. There is a store under development on the web site that offers past issues of The Archives of Safety and Health and a variety of publications from the past.
Also, SHHS is excited to announce that the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has officially committed to participating with SHHS. We are working with their contact person to create a plan for that participation. A way to share their participation will be a section on the SHHS web site devoted to NIOSH and its role in S&H history. We will offer similar benefits to other participating organizations, agencies, companies and schools.
